The Importance of Hanuman Chalisa

Hanuman Chalisa is an ageless hymn to love. Being the epitome of faith, submission, and devotion, Lord Hanuman is revered for his unwavering loyalty to Lord Ram. Saint Goswami Tulsidas, the writer of the Tulsi Ramayana (Ramacharitamanasa), is the creator of the “Hanuman Chalisa.”

The Hanuman Chalisa is said to have been authored by an ailing Tulsidas. Writing and reciting hymns to Lord Hanuman aided Tulsidas in getting well. The 40 verses of the Hanuman Chalisa, written in Avadhi, are devoted to praising Lord Hanuman. This particular variety of Hindi was spoken in the birthplace of Lord Rama, Ayodhya.

The significance of devotion and Hanuman Chalisa

What is the benefit of singing the Hanuman Chalisa? Chanting the Hanuman Chalisa ignites the flame of devotion and stirs the heart. Hanuman Chalisa would evoke feelings of the deepest devotion even if you only read it.

Lord Hanuman’s various attributes are listed as the Hanuman Chalisa unfolds, verse by verse. Devotees who sing and repeat this devotional song (prayer) think that Hanuman will grant them boundless grace and great merit.

Reciting the Hanuman Chalisa every day is thought to grant divine protection from sickness, enemies, and misfortunes. Worshipping Lord Hanuman is said to enhance life power; he is regarded as the “god of life.” Having more life force within us offers us the ability to overcome any fear, mistrust, or uncertainty.

Tulsidas Sada Hari Chera, Keeje Nath Hriday Mah Dera.

Anybody who memorises and recites this Hanuman Chalisa will succeed in all of his endeavours. The very Lord Shiva Himself bears witness to it. Tulsidas prays, “O Lord Hanuman, may I always remain a servant, a devotee of Lord Sri Ram.” May You live in my heart forever.

Couplet

Pawan Tanay Sankat Haran, Mangal Murti Roop.

Ram Lakhan Sita Sahit, Hriday Basahu Sur Bhoop.

Dear Wind Son, All sorrows are dispelled by you. You are wealth and good fortune personified. Live in my heart forever, Mother Sita, Laxmana, and Lord Rama.

The heart and breath meet.

Everyone wants to be mentally calm, but what if you could reach heavenly happiness by breathing? As Gurudev so eloquently put it, negativity is vanquished and the mind and soul become one when our soul (Rama) and mind (Sita) rest on the shoulders of breath (Hanuman).

It is possible to feel divine happiness in that condition of union. To be able to live in your heart no matter what, all you have to do is learn how to use your breath.
