Operation
The One X simply has two buttons, making stand-alone operation simple. The little power button also toggles between shooting modes and settings. The larger button serves as the shutter and also as a confirmation while exploring the menus presented on a small circular OLED display.
The LCD isn’t always easy to see in strong light, but you can set a QuickCapture option that powers the camera on and begins recording immediately when you long-press the shutter. This is a handy feature for shooting while riding a bike or doing anything else that requires your entire attention.
The device has an expected tripod mount on the bottom that allows you to attach the camera to various supports and selfie sticks. The One X may be used with a GoPro-style mount using an adapter, and if you don’t have any other means of support, the flat base allows you to position the camera on any flat surface.
The One X connects to mobile devices through WiFi or a provided USB cable for faster transfer speeds. The camera can capture decent quality even when only a piece of the full 360-degree footage is used. With the sun always visible somewhere in the frame, there is bound to be some clipping in the brightest portions of the sky, but the overall dynamic range is quite acceptable, and stitching objects, while occasionally evident, are largely under control.
However, Insta360’s FlowState stabilisation is the real standout. The footage is amazingly smooth and almost looks like it was shot with a gimbal, despite being shot hand-held.The footage is exceedingly smooth and appears to have been shot using a handheld camera.
In a movie, you may add as many pivot points as you want, and the programme will make smooth transitions between them. If you prefer a more automatic solution, pivot points are a viable option for Viewfinder mode.
In addition, the software includes a subject-tracking feature for managing camera movement during editing. This works well in general, but it will cease tracking if the subject is temporarily concealed by another object, so depending on your film, it may not always be the ideal answer.
