Introduction

An future B2-segment SUV that can accommodate up to 5 passengers is the Kia Sonet Facelift. By early 2024 or in the end of 2023, we anticipate the Sonet Facelift to be available in the market. We estimate that the price of the next Kia Sonet Facelift would range from Rs. 7.80 lakh to Rs. 14.50 lakh. The facelifted 2024 Kia Sonet SUV is anticipated to offer 5 engine-transmission options. For Kia, the Kia Sonet has been a popular product in India. The feature-rich small SUV was first introduced in India in 2020, and since then, Kia hasn’t made any significant design changes to it.

Additionally, since its release, rivals like the Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon have increased the competition. As a result, Kia is getting ready to give its small SUV, the Sonet, a significant midlife redesign. The redesigned Sonet is anticipated to have a few new features as well as some significant design modifications.

Exterior Design Of Kia Sonet Facelift:

Some design elements can still be partially seen through the camouflage, though. While the internals and LED Daytime Running Lamps should be improved, the headlights initially maintain their slick, horizontal look.

Similar to Kia’s most recent models, including the EV9 and EV5 concept, it appears that a new drop-down feature connects with the fog lamp housing below. In fact, this raises the possibility of a completely new front bumper. A big central air intake with a different mesh design from the one on the current vehicle is also apparent.

We don’t anticipate any significant modifications to the Sonet’s shape, but the new dual-tone design for the 16-inch alloy wheels is definitely noticeable. We can notice a new vertically oriented taillight that is most likely connected by an LED light bar at the rear.

This is comparable to what we’ve seen on the EV9 and EV5 concept cars as well as the Seltos facelift. The rear bumper may also get some modest modifications.

Kia Sonet Facelift Specifications For 1.5 Diesel Manual Version:

Features And Interior Of Kis Sonet Facelift

The Sonet facelift’s interior is being seen for the first time, but as with the outside, every element is being heavily camouflaged. However, this could indicate a new dashboard design or at least new interior trimmings and panels.

The Sonet comes equipped with a number of industry-leading technologies out of the gate, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen, ventilaed seats, a sunroof, a wireless charging, ambient lighting, and a Bose music system. So it will be interesting to observe whether, or even if, Kia improves.

The rather primitive unit in the current Sonet would be a welcome replacement with a modern digital instrument cluster that provides more data and vivid graphics.

A digital instrument panel, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay may all be included in the facelift from Kia.

Powertrain Of Kia Sonet Facelift

However, the Sonet’s mechanical components are anticipated to remain the same even after a facelift. In a recent update, Kia equipped the Sonet with engines that complied with RDE and E20 fuel regulations. As a result, it will still have two petrol engines, the 83 horsepower, 1.2 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, and the 120 horsepower, 1.0 liter turbo-petrol engine, in addition to the 116 horsepower, 1.5 liter diesel engine. All engine options for gearboxes are probably going to stay the same.

Currently, the Sonet’s lowest models come with a 1.2-liter regular petrol engine that generates 83 PS at 6000 RPM and 115 Nm at 4200 RPM. A 1.5L turbo diesel engine and a 1.0L turbo petrol engine are available in the Sonet’s higher trim levels, respectively. The 1.5L turbo diesel engine generates 250Nm of torque between 1500 and 2750 rpm and 115PS at 4000 rpm.

The turbocharged petrol and diesel engines both have auto-clutch manual transmission (ACMT) and automatic gearbox options, while the standard petrol engine only comes with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Variants

Most likely, the HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX AE, HTX+, GTX+, and X-Line models offered with the Sonet facelift will remain.

Competition

The upgraded Sonet will compete with the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 300, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite when it releases.

Safety

Safety ratings have not yet been calculated for the Kia Sonet facelift. On the other hand, it has six airbags, TPMS, seat belt warning, ABS, EBD, ESP, hill hold control, TCS, and more as standard safety equipment.

Top 3 Upcoming Features Of Kia Sonet Facelift

Android Auto

The Kia Sonet has consistently been one of the segment’s SUVs with the most features. The Maruti Brezza, a competing vehicle, now provides wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Additionally, the wireless Android auto/Apple car play capability is most likely to be added to the next Tata Nexon facelift. Surprisingly, Kia presently offers wireless Android auto/Apple car play in the lower-end Sonet models, which have an infotainment system with a smaller 8-inch touchscreen.

However, the more expensive Sonet models, which include a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, come with connected Android auto/Apple car play. Because of this, we anticipate Kia will include the wireless Android auto/Apple car play capability in all the variations of the next Sonet facelift.

Six Airbags

In the current Sonet, Kia already includes 4 airbags as standard equipment. Additionally, Kia just made 6 airbags a standard feature on its Seltos SUV and Carens MPV. Additionally, starting on October 1, 2023, no automaker would be permitted to sell any of their models in India without 6 airbags as standard. As a result, the new Kia Sonet facelift is assured to include 6 airbags as standard.

Additionally, Kia is probably going to give the new Sonet facelift all-wheel disc brakes as well as a few additional active safety features like Electronic Brake Prefill, Brake Disc Wiping, etc. in order to keep ahead of its competitors like Mahindra XUV300, which offers all-wheel disc brakes.

360 Degree Camera

Along with rear sensors, the Kia Sonet already includes front parking sensors. A reverse camera is also added. But the Maruti Brezza, a competing vehicle, now provides a sophisticated 360-degree vision camera system. The Maruti Brezza is now the first and only SUV in its segment to have this function.

Kia Motors, however, is anticipated to give the new Sonet a considerably more sophisticated 360-degree surround-view camera system. A rear blind vision monitor, which the Maruti Brezza lacks, would probably also be added to this system.

Conclusion

A better, bolder, and more powerful driving experience is promised by the Kia Sonet facelift. The Sonet intends to maintain its position as a contender in the SUV market with stylish design revisions, improved interior features, and anticipated additions like wireless Android Auto, six airbags, and a 360-degree camera system.
