The WPL 2024 champion women’s team, the RCB women’s squad, became victorious.  At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, Royal Challengers Bangalore secured an 8-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals, captained by Smriti Mandhana, to secure their first Women’s Premier League title. Women’s Premier League Ellyse Perry of Royal Challengers Bangalore took home the orange cap after finishing first in the league with a remarkable 341 runs scored in nine games. Perry finished the event with an incredible 69.4 average, earning her the coveted orange cap.

She etched her name in women’s cricket history during the clash against Delhi, achieving a remarkable feat as the first woman to notch both a fifty and a hat-trick in a single T20 game. Beginning the tournament from the No.8 position, she showcased her prowess by ascending to No.3 against Delhi, crafting a resilient innings of 59 runs on a challenging pitch.

Demonstrating her all-around capabilities, Sharma’s bowling prowess shone as she claimed impressive figures of 4-19, instrumental in guiding the Warriors to defend a total of 138 against Delhi successfully.

 Throughout the season, Sharma consistently sparkled with standout performances, leaving an indelible mark on almost every game, whether with the bat or the ball. In a stellar display across her last three appearances, she amassed an impressive tally of 200 runs and scalped seven wickets, cementing her status as a pivotal figure in the tournament.

WPL 2024: Player of the final

Sophie Molineux was declared the player for her superb bowling spell. She took 3 wickets including the crucial wicket of Shafali Verma who was running amock in the early stages of the game. Molineux leaked just 20 runs in the allotted 4 overs.

2023: RCB women’s team results

2023’s inaugural WPL season, which ran from March 4 to March 26, got off to a great start. Five teams competed in a total of 22 matches for the title, with Mumbai Indians Delhi Capitals emerging as the inaugural WPL champion in the finals.

Regretfully, the RCB women’s team squad’s performance in the WPL 2023 was lacklustre. The squad only managed to win twice, against the Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz, after opening the competition with five straight losses. With a negative Net Run Rate (NRR) of -1.137 at the conclusion of the tournament, the team finished fourth in the points table and was eliminated.

WPL 2024 

Five teams participate in the WPL event, where they face off against one another in a double round-robin format to take home the title. The top three clubs with the most points at the end of the regular season advance to the playoffs under this format.

The top team in the points table receives a direct admission into the finals, per the tournament rules. The eliminator match between the second and third teams in the points table determines their opponent in the interim.

Prior to the current WPL season, the WPL 2024 players list was made public by BCCI in October. Here, 60 players in all, including 21 international players who were kept by five teams and 29 players who might no longer be in line with the teams’
